Jamboree! View

 The
Jamboree is an exciting time for everyone. It's the
end of the hunt for the
championship and also the end of a long season of
building engines. The opening night of the Jamboree
started off strong with Kyle Jumbeck taking the checkered
flag in the Midwest modified class using Sput's power.
The Thursday night's feature was 30 laps for the USMTS
drivers, and it showed what the rest of the weekend
would be like with tight racing. With 13 of the 30
spots taken by drivers with Sput's power, it would
be interesting to the end. In the
end, it would be Jason Cummins doing the victory dance,
which was his first
USMTS win. Jason started 6th to take the win for the
evening. The second day
was also a good night of racing with Jerry Young taking
the honors in the Midwest modified class and getting
some
momentum going into the rest of the week's festivities.
With that came the
USMTS show to the ring and 14 of the 30 spots were
filled with Sput's power. When the dust settled from
the 40 lapper, Zak
Vanderbeek
would see victory from the 6th spot. One year ago
these two drivers found themselves in the winner's
circle together as well. The final night would be
tough with lots of money on the line as well as the
points battle
in the hunt. The B mod class would take stage first
and a familiar face from the previous night would
once again get it done. Jerry Young would pace the
field to take his second win of the weekend. The USMTS
feature was tough with Jason Hughes taking home the
big check for the night. The hunt battle came down
to the wire and Kelly Shryock just squeaked ahead
of Ryan Gustin to take his 9th national championship.
It's
been a very long racing season for everyone at Sput's
keeping customers running at their very best! So with
that we felt it was time to give you an update on
how the season has gone. Sput's currently sits on
top of the USMTS Engine Builder Challenge with three
races remaining, as well as supplying the power to
the leaders in the USMTS national points and USRA
points. The Thunderbird event, which took place in
Kasson, provided some exciting results with Brandon
Davis sneeking by Kyle Jumbeck for the win, and Brad
Waits edging out Tommy Myer on the last lap to collect
the winner's check for the evening. Pure Stock was
won by 13 year old Kylie Kath to give Sput's a clean
sweep for the evening in all classes. Another exciting
event is the Gopher 50 which takes place at Deer Creek
Speedway. This year's winner was Jason Cummins who
also wrapped up the Deer Creek Speedway championship
for the 2009 season. With the season winding down
we look forward to the upcoming showdown called the
Jamboree. Check back to see what happens, it will
be a nail biter to the end!
In
23 of the 52 O'Reilly USMTS National Tour events this
season, Sput's Racing Engines provided the power under
the hood, and has clinched the 2008 COMP Cams Engine
Builder of the Year Award!
Tim
Donlinger won the 10th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree
on Saturday, September 20 at the Deer Creek Speedway
in Spring Valley, MN. This win solidified the Casey's
General Store Hunt for the Championship. Everyone
at Sput's would like to congratulate driver Tim Donlinger/owner
Ron Frericks and crew on their outstanding finish
in the O'Reilly USMTS National Championship!
In
the closest of USMTS history, Brandon Kenny edged
Derick Ramirez by 10 points in the final race to collect
the $2,500 check. We would like to thank these young
guns from Oklahoma for choosing Sput's as their engine
supplier!

As
of July 15th, Sput's is proud to announce that our
customers have racked up a total of 86 wins! A big
congratulations goes out to the Frericks / Donlinger
3D team. They scored the Gopher 50 win on July 9th
and followed that up with a feature win 3 days later
with a new Skyrocket chassis and Sput's powerplant.
Congratulations also goes out to Matt Kohl for winning
the Quick 16 at Tri State Raceway on June 29th. He
currently leads the points series after this win.
Another exciting program is the engine builders challenge
sponsored by Comp Cams in the USMTS series. Sput's
is currently leading by 35 points, and we're working
hard to stay on top of the other talented builders
in this challenge. The other news Sput's would like
to announce is the new engine they have been developing
for the USMTS series since the beginning of May. This
engine will be based on their current spec only with
a bunch of new ideas. It should be on the dyno towards
the end of July, and if all goes well it should see
the dirt the beginning of August. Stay tuned!
